Star Hospital, Ahmedabad

This was one of the most challenging projects as the objective was to convert a 50-year-old building into a corporate hospital. The client had designed the old hospital some time ago only and they were not happy with the earlier design. When they gave us the project, they had only one objective; ‘to convert the old building into a functional good-looking brand-new hospital’. This was not an easy task as we also had to provide for a lot of natural light, which was not sufficient in the building. We had to first understand the structure of the building and propose some cut-outs in the slab to get the natural light before worrying about the interior design. It was also spread into multiple levels, which was another challenge. Even though it was an interior design project, it ended up being a renovation project as well. When the interior design was done, we made sure that we created a new branding for the client through our design. Ultimately, when the project was completed, we were able to achieve all the objectives of renovating the building as well as the interior designing. The interior design for this was very simple, functional and classy.
